Prerequisites

None

There is no minimum age requirement for this class. In fact, the AHA states, “The ability to perform CPR is based more on body strength than age. Studies have shown that children as young as nine years old can learn and retain CPR skills.” The 2009 study published in the Critical Care journal concludes, “Students as young as 9 years are able to successfully and effectively learn basic life support skills including AED deployment, correct recovery position and emergency calling.”

Intended Audience

This class is intended for non-medical personnel who require CPR, AED, and first aid certification for job, regulatory, or other requirements (e.g., teachers, babysitters, nannies, lifeguards, coaches, and those who work in schools, gyms, construction, electrical trades, vineyards, wineries, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, social work, community centers, recreational centers, etc.). This class is also appropriate for laypersons who desire CPR and first aid training, including children, young adults, and families.

This class is NOT intended for healthcare providers or medical professionals. If you are a healthcare provider or training to be one, please return to our home page to find our Basic Life Support (BLS) certification class.
